Waterloo, Quebec
A grocery store composts its own food waste on site, and the compost helps restore the shores of Lake Waterloo.
When Quebec announced that organic waste would be banned from landfills, Louis-Martin Racicot, owner of the Metro Lussier store in Waterloo, decided to reduce his store’s waste to a minimum, in a practical and affordable way that his employees could adapt to.
The solutionPaul Larouche worked with him on the program, and the BROME team set up a composting system sized for the store. Brome Compost trained an in-house operator, and still supports the store.
The store’s compost is used to help rejuvenate the shores of Lake Waterloo and the city’s flowerbeds.
Tell us about your organic residues and your site. We will propose the right system.
