Stanstead College has about 265 students and operates 365 days a year, with three meals a day for students and staff. Cafeteria food waste can reach almost 800 kg a week, and disposal costs were significant.
The solutionA made-to-measure BROME system with a BROME 616 composter was installed on the school grounds, which eliminates transport costs. The drum rotates slowly every two hours and needs little oversight.
The Brome team trained the new operators on the composting basics, recipe balancing and the safe operation of the composter: weigh the residues, add them with the right amendments, and note the temperatures. Remote support is available for recipe formulation and troubleshooting.
