Everything around the composter.

Shred, mix and load the material, then cure and store the finished compost. Each piece works with the Brome Composter, on its own or as part of a complete system.

Step 1

Prepare

Get the material ready before it goes into the drum.

Shredder

Breaks stems, root balls and other fibrous plant waste into smaller pieces before composting.

  • Reduces the volume of plant waste
  • More surface for the microorganisms, so composting is faster and more effective
  • Takes potted plants with their growing media, when it is organic and compostable
  • Destroys and denatures plant waste, as licensed cannabis producers must by regulation

Mixer

A vertical mixer blends and breaks down the material before it goes into the composter. Patz vertical mixers are designed to work with the BROME system.

  • Smaller, more even particles make the carbon easier for microorganisms to reach
  • Speeds up composting and improves the finished compost
  • Built-in scale to control your recipes and keep records
  • Door location, capacity, scale display and drive can be configured

Step 2

Load

Bring the mix to the composter with less handling.

Bin lift

A hydraulic lift empties rolling bins and totes straight into the composter.

Bins and totes of 12 to 95 gal (45 to 360 L)
  • Faster loading, with less labour
  • Easier to add feedstock
  • Little to no maintenance
  • Several models and configurations

Tipping bin

Store organic matter, then tip it into the composter with a forklift. The same bin collects finished compost at the outlet.

  • Effective tipping system
  • Optional bolt-on wheels
  • Solid fork pockets for safe lifting
  • Stackable, to save on shipping and storage

Conveyor

Automates moving material into the composter, and finished compost out to the curing area.

  • At the inlet, it feeds the composter
  • At the outlet, it carries compost to the curing bays
  • Works on its own or as part of a BROME system
  • Custom conveyors on request

Step 5

Cure & store

Let the compost mature, then store, ship or sell it.

Bulk storage bags

Flexible bags placed at the composter outlet, to cure the compost or store it for the medium term.

Breathable or airtight
  • Affordable
  • A convenient format to ship or sell compost
  • Medium-term storage
  • Lets the compost finish curing

Bags are moved with a pallet truck or forklift. Setting them on pallets makes handling easier.

More options

Around the system

Options that adapt the system to its site.

Odour management

Two ways to treat the air that comes out of the composter.

Carbon filter

Considerably reduces odours and vapours. Low maintenance. May need a fume hood to capture the air.

Biofilter

Built from wood chips and mature compost, connected to the fume hood on the composter. Efficient and affordable; needs regular maintenance.
